Free food

On Monday last week (Memorial day) we went to a little restaurant/bar near us with two of Jason's friends.  Apparently it was much busier than they were expecting and had a cook and a waitress call off.  It took quite a while to get our food and when they did bring it out, Jason's food was wrong.  The waitress literally put the plates in front of us and RAN away.  A while later we were all out of drinks.  Finally a guy came and asked us if we wanted refills.  He got all our drinks and probably FIFTEEN minutes later he finally brought the drinks back for us.  At that point we were all done with our food and he noticed that Jason hadn't touched his food.  He asked if something was wrong and Jason told him that it was suppose to be no tomatoes.  They guy was like, "Oh, I'm sorry you should have said something sooner."  I bit my tongue because I wanted to say, "Well, if the waitress would have stuck around for 5 seconds after putting the plates in front of us or if someone would have come back within the last 20 minutes to see how we were doing we could have told you.  We can't really tell anyone if NO ONE is anywhere to be seen."  AUGH!  But I was nice and didn't say anything.  Then when it was time to pay, she charged Wes' card $30 something instead of the $8 or so that his meal actually was (she charged his card for our meal).  So instead of waiting for someone to come back he went to find her to have it fixed.  It was a nightmare.  There was another table near us earlier that just walked off because they were tired of waiting.  I was surprised that they didn't at least try to comp SOMEthing for the craziness.  I mean, maybe our drinks or appetizer?

So fast forward to 6 days later (Sunday).  Jason and I went to this same restaurant for breakfast.  At the end of the meal the guy who took over waiting on us in the middle of the Memorial Day meal said,

"Were you guys here Monday?"
     "Yeah."
"Did you have a wrap that was messed up?"
     "Yeah."

He then proceeded to tell us that he wanted to take care of our breakfast for us because that day was so crazy and we were "awesome".  So, we got a free breakfast for not throwing a fit and being mean when we got bad service!  Woohoo!  Too bad Steve and Wes didn't get to benefit from the bad service!  :)  I'm guessing they probably had a lot of mean people that day and maybe we stood out because we were so cool about things.

So today we had a drug rep bring us dinner and I totally pigged out.  I was set on eating my healthy lunch I had brought but sitting for 20 minutes smelling fried chicken, mashed potatoes, green beans and biscuits got to me.  So by the time it was our lunch break my will had been broken.  I told Jason that we should eat bad for supper since I'd already ruined the day.  He ended up going to the store and buying healthy stuff but later suggested we go out.  Woohoo!

On our way into the restaurant I reminded him that yesterday was 10 years of us "dating."  So he decided we were going to celebrate.  We got an appetizer (even though I told him I wanted to skip an appetizer and get dessert instead) and a bottle of wine.  After our salad and appetizer we were just sitting there drinking our wine and talking.  The manager came up and said, "I hear you guys have been waiting a while for your food?"  We didn't say anything because we really hadn't noticed.  Well, I guess Jason had noticed but he didn't say anything because it really wasn't a big deal to him.  He proceeds to tell us that the storm had caused some trouble in the kitchen and they were really backed up.  He then told us that everything would be free.  Um yeah...everything...even the bottle of wine!  How cool is that?  We almost felt guilty.  We ended up asking for a dessert and requesting that we pay for it (actually we just needed a way to put SOMETHING on our card so we could leave a tip).  So we paid $5 for our dessert and left a $15 tip.

So, that's how we ended up with two free meals in three days!  Now, back to eating at home and eating healthy.  I think I'll go find that dessert now!

Not to mention it was a good bottle of wine...something that I normally wouldn't puchase!
